We're sharing the following statement from NHS Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG):

Following the terrorist incident at Liverpool Women’s Hospital on Sunday 14 November, we are aware that patients and visitors may have some concerns about safety and security on the hospital site.

All services remain open and access onto the hospital site has not changed. There are also no changes to public transport routes to the hospital.

However, enhanced security has been put in place on the hospital site, including a Police presence, which is intended to reassure staff, patients and visitors. As is usual practice, staff are required to show their ID card to gain access to our buildings, while patients and visitors will be asked to show an appointment letter or confirm who they are visiting. 

While the national threat level has increased from ‘substantial’ to ‘severe’, Merseyside Police Chief Constable, Serena Kennedy, has said, “there is no specific threat to the area…incidents such as this are very rare…I would ask people to remain calm, but be vigilant and alert” – you can see the full statement here: https://www.merseyside.police.uk/news/merseyside/news/2021/november/chief-constables-message-to-communities-of-merseyside-following-incident-at-liverpool-womens-hospital/

We will continue to monitor the situation, take sensible precautions and work closely with Merseyside Police and other agencies.
